Fast track infrastructure security project to secure a Teir 1 Transmission Substation. Project consisted of approx. 7,400LF of precast concrete, double stacked wall ranging in size from 12’ to 16’ tall. Scope of work included installing 520 cast in drilled hole foundations and 1,040 precast concrete wall panels. In addition, Machado & Sons performed clearing, grading, demolition, steel fabrication and gate installation to support the security project.

The project presented many challenges including varying soils conditions, inclement weather and multiple agencies (County of Santa Clara, NERC and Cal Trans).

Soils conditions varied greatly throughout the site ranging silty sand, cobbles/boulders and serpentine. Installation the foundations required several different drilling methods.

Several agencies had to be coordinated for permitting, engineering and testing/inspection throughout the project, including Cal Trans for work within the HWY 101 Right Of Way.
